Applications

One of the many applications of MA-REAF is Receptive-Expressive Arts  Focusing for Museum Experience (REAF-ME)

The program called Receptive-Expressive Arts Focusing for Museum Experience (REAF-ME) engages participants with exhibited art through body-focused interaction, going beyond intellectual analysis

REAF-ME provides participants with a sense of cultural identity and inclusion in a non-clinical environment. This can empower participants and reduce the hierarchical power dynamics present in traditional therapy settings

The REAF-ME program connects participants with museum information about the artist and with their sensory and emotional experiences of the artwork. Participants alternate between receptive activities, such as observing artwork through "slow looking," and expressive activities, such as drawing or movement. This combination fosters a deeper, more personal connection to art and oneself

The REAF-ME process creates a transformative and meaningful experience by bridging the gap between professional artists' work and participants' situational Felt Sense of the "More," which exists beyond artistic concepts and ideas

Consequently, museum visits become healing experiences that allow participants to explore and restore their inner landscapes in a safe and contained environment

Another application that integrates the environment into MA-REAF processing is the Receptive-Expressive Arts Focusing for Art in Bed (REAF-AB) program. This program combines museum art with the Art in Bed concept to benefit patients in hospitals and hospices
